What's New for 2010

For 2010, the GMC Sierra will enjoy a handful of mechanical refinements and interior and safety add-ons.

Starting with the mechanical end, E85 FlexFuel capability has been incorporated into all V-8 engines, which includes the 4.8-liter L20, the 5.3-liter LC9 and LMG, and the 6.2-liter L9H. GM's Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission is standard fare with the 5.3- and 6.2-liter powerplants, while the 4.8-liter V-8 and base 4.3-liter V-6 remain paired with the Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic. To assist with fuel economy, variable valve timing is built into the 4.8- and 5.3-liter engines, while a tall 3.08 rear axle is mated with a fuel saver mode for 5.3-liter-V-8-equipped Sierra trucks.

The interior features side curtain airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, and a now-standard USB port on all radios. The interior door trim has been revised for the start of the new decade, while the rearview camera is now available for more models. Assisting the Sierra in the handling and stability department is the StabiliTrak electronic control system, which now comes standard on all light-duty Sierra models.

Two new exterior colors are also being introduced for the Sierra: Sheer Silver Metallic and Storm Gray Metallic.
